           Brusie describes the difference between neurotypical and neurodiversity and goes into detail about the historical roots of the terms and how these terms came about. Brusie also elaborates on their specific meanings and how to distinguish the two. This source is useful in supporting my thesis because it allows me to describe what it means to be a healthy person mentally and emotionally.

           This source provides the thesis with ample information regarding the different types of coping mechanisms employed after having adverse childhood experiences and goes into detail regarding the positive and negative coping mechanisms. This source is beneficial to my thesis because it provides information regarding the effects of adverse childhood experiences.

           Dauvermann talks about the role of childhood trauma in cognitive performance in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. She also discusses an experiment conducted among patients with and without Schizophrenia to draw a conclusion on the relatedness between childhood trauma and cognitive function. This article is useful for this thesis because it adds support to the argument that childhood trauma is linked to mental illness.

           Davidson describes what it means to be neurodivergent and explains how neurodivergency occurs. Davidson also elaborates on the differences between neurodivergency and neurodiversity. This article is important in supporting my thesis because it allows there to be a clear understanding between proper neurodevelopment and hindered neurodevelopment.

           Dinsmoor goes into detail about what mood disorders are and the different types that show up throughout the population. Dinsmoor also goes into detail on the different causes and symptoms of these disorders and how they are treated. This article is useful for this thesis because it provides information on a subgroup of mental disorders and will be useful in educating the reader on mental disorders.

           Frey describes the different types of anxiety disorders and how they affect the population demographically. Frey also goes into depth on the different types of anxiety disorders and the symptoms and causes of them. This article will be useful for this thesis because it provides information on the different disorders within the anxiety disorder subcategory, which will be helpful when educating the reader on different mental disorders.

           Frey provides a detailed description on what psychological trauma is and how it is classified. Frey also goes into detail about the different trauma types, how they affect the individual, and how the population is affected by the trauma proportionally. This article will be useful for this thesis because it focuses on the different types of psychological trauma, which will be helpful in educating the reader on these different types of trauma.

           This source provides the thesis with important information regarding the ways in which someone can improve their mental state after having experienced trauma or mental illness. This source is beneficial to my thesis because it allows me to provide to the reader a course of action if they are battling the things discussed in the paper.

July 01). “Childhood Trauma and Psychosis in a Prospective Cohort Study:

Cause, Effect, and Directionality.” Accessed October 27, 2020. 

           Kelleher goes into depth on the time variable when considering the relationship between trauma and psychosis. This is particularly interesting because her study finds that the duration of the trauma and when it ends has an impact on psychosis symptoms. This article is useful in support of my thesis because it describes the relatedness between trauma and the mental illness group I am going into depth with: psychosis.

           This source provides the thesis with information regarding the impactfulness of staying socially connected and the specific ways in which being social can help your mental health. This source is impactful to my thesis because it allows me to illustrate behaviors that are healthy and to provide my reader with the methods necessary to be healthy.

 

McLaughlin, K.A., Colich, N.L., Rodman, A.M. et al. “Mechanisms linking childhood

trauma exposure and psychopathology: a transdiagnostic model of risk and

           McLaughlin goes into detail on the relatedness between childhood trauma and psychopathology. McLaughlin also goes into great length on the function of childhood trauma and the adaptations of the brain and the individual's brain because of the trauma. This article is useful in support for my thesis because it talks about the association between childhood trauma and particular mental illnesses.

           This source provides the thesis with a statistical analysis of the distribution of mental illness throughout the United States. This source is important for my thesis because it allows me to illustrate the severity of the topic I am discussing.

           Teicher and Samson et al go into detail about the function of time and type of childhood trauma and the relatedness to PTSD and Depression in Adults. Teicher and Samson et al also go into detail on social cues and how they are affected, due to trauma. This article is particularly useful for my thesis because it shows the relationship between childhood trauma and mental illness and adds an extra, nuanced piece to my thesis when considering the time and type.

           Misiak goes into the epidemiological, clinical, neuropsychological, and biological connections between childhood trauma and psychosis. Misiak also adds an interesting point that PTSD from childhood trauma seems to connect the trauma with psychosis symptoms. This article will be useful in support of my thesis because it connects childhood trauma and psychosis and goes into detail on the different ways psychosis is developed.

           Mørkved goes into detail about the relationship between childhood trauma and cognitive functioning in individuals with schizophrenia. Mørkved also goes into detail distinguishing the trauma types associated with schizophrenia and the ones that do not. This article is useful in support of my thesis because it identifies the trauma types associated with a particular mental illness, which in this case, is schizophrenia. 

 

Popovic, David, et al. "Childhood Trauma in Schizophrenia: Current Findings and

Research Perspectives." Frontiers in Neuroscience, 2019. Gale In Context:

           Popovic goes into detail about childhood trauma and how it translates into schizophrenia. Like most articles about this topic, this article takes a group of adults who are already diagnosed with schizophrenia and give them a series of tests to determine their trauma types and when the trauma occurred to determine any relationships.

Psychosis and Schizophrenia: A Literature Review with Theoretical and Clinical

           Read provides evidence for the connection between psychosis disorders and childhood trauma. Read also adds an interesting and important connection between the severity of the trauma type or source and the severity of the psychosis symptoms. This article is particularly in support of my thesis because it not only draws the connection between childhood trauma and psychosis, but it draws a connection between the severity of the trauma and the severity of the psychosis symptoms.

           This source provides the thesis with information regarding the importance of exercise and its benefit to one’s health. This source is impactful to my thesis because it allows me to provide ways in which someone can better their health. 

 

Schäfer, I., & Fisher, H. (2011). “Childhood trauma and psychosis - what is the

evidence?” Accessed October 27, 2020.

           Schäfer dives into the relationship between both childhood trauma and other trauma sources and their connection to Psychosis. Schäfer also goes into detail on the numerous avenues that can be taken in developing psychosis disorders. This article is useful in defense of my thesis because it outlines a clear connection between trauma and psychosis and other causes of psychosis.

           Sims provides information, on a broader scale, of the different types of Mental disorders and how they affect the person. Sims also goes into detail on the different methods of discovering whether or not someone has a mental illness or disorder. This article will be useful when writing this thesis because it goes into great detail in defining the different large categories of mental disorders, which will be helpful when educating the reader.

           Spauwen eloquently depicts the connection between childhood trauma and psychosis disorders. Spauwen also identifies which trauma types are specifically associated with psychosis and why that is the case. This article will be useful in supporting my thesis because it is another source that advocates for a positive connection between childhood trauma and developing psychosis disorders.

           This article goes into sufficient detail on the several different types of trauma, as well as the different types of traumatic events that are associated with each type. This article is certainly useful in defending my thesis because it brings more voices to the discussion when defining what exactly trauma is.

           In this article, the author goes into detail about the eight things a child needs in order to develop properly. This article also does an excellent job adding that idea that time also plays a role in development in children, especially when the childhood is not perfect. This article is important in supporting my thesis because it allows me to discuss what exactly a child needs.

           This article describes the different types of trauma and the many different traumatic events that go with each type. This article also explains the different recovery options for traumatic events, as well as the different symptoms and signs that someone suffering from trauma may experience. This article will be useful when defending my thesis because it adds one more voice to the conversation regarding what trauma really is.
